Do Not Purchase Fight Tickets
The Cancel Claressa boycott has officially been activated. One of the four pillars of this campaign was not supporting Shields in anything that she does. That includes putting money in her pocket. Supporters of the Cancel Claressa Accountability Campaign and Boycott are not buying any fight tickets.
Do Not Purchase DAZN Subscription
DAZN has not responded to our complaint against Shields, instead they have ignored us and are streaming her upcoming fight. Rather than caring about her being a safety hazard to the public, they only care about how much money they can make from subscriptions and/or pay-per-views. Therefore, we refuse to purchase any DAZN subscriptions or Pay-Per-Views for Shields’ fight. This is a powerful way for the public to hold her accountable while we wait for the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
Digital Blackout on August 15
Shields just announced a fight with a less skilled opponent for the Middleweight championship belt. This fight will take place on August 15. On this day, we will hold a Digital Blackout. We will not watch her fight on any digital platforms – not even if it is free on YouTube. Instead, we will continue to push forward with our accountability campaign.
Boxing License Expires August 31
All U.S. boxing licenses expire on August 31. Once it expires, boxers must renew it with the state that they are licensed in. Our hope is that the investigation prevents Shields from renewing her license in Michigan due to possible disciplinary action up to and including the suspension, denial, and revocation of her license.
Ongoing Investigation
As many of you know, Shields’ behavior has escalated to violent acts against women outside of a sanctioned boxing match. As a result, Our team filed a formal complaint, and she is currently being investigated by the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission. The investigation is ongoing and can take several months.
